Jelly and Yggdrasil revive Big Benji franchise with new slot release
Jelly has launched Big Benji's Back Wild Ways through Yggdrasil's YGG Masters programme, bringing back its Big Benji Bonanza character in a new title offering wins of up to 2,500 times stake.
Jelly has released Big Benji’s Back Wild Ways, a new online slot distributed through Yggdrasil’s YGG Masters programme, marking the studio’s latest launch and a return to its Big Benji Bonanza intellectual property two years after the original title debuted.
The game offers players the chance to win up to 2,500 times their stake through a combination of a Wild Ways mechanic and a free spins bonus featuring win multipliers.
Game mechanics
Wild Ways is triggered when a wild symbol lands on the first two reels, which then awards any money symbols appearing on the remaining reels. Prizes are collected only on adjacent reels moving left to right.
Landing a bonus symbol on the third reel during a Wild Ways trigger activates the free spins feature. Players spin a wheel of fortune to determine their number of free spins, ranging from eight to 16.
During the free spins round, the Wild Ways mechanic triggers more often, and multipliers can appear on the sixth reel, automatically increasing the value of any prizes won.
Players have the option to increase their stake by 25% to boost the frequency of bonus triggers, or pay 100 times their stake to buy directly into the free spins feature.
Technology and comment
The title runs on GATI, Yggdrasil’s development platform designed to give partners a standardised, regulation-ready toolkit for producing and distributing new game content.
Zoe Bird, Head of Masters at Yggdrasil, said the studio was pleased to see Big Benji return to reels two years after the original release, highlighting the addition of the Wild Ways mechanic as a key feature of the title.
Victoria Newbolt, Marketing Lead at Jelly, said Big Benji Bonanza had proved popular with players over the past two years and described the new release as a strong way to close out the studio’s year.
