4ThePlayer and Yggdrasil launch Ice Age sequel 10000 BC 2 DoubleMax

4ThePlayer has launched 10000 BC 2 DoubleMax, a sequel to its earlier Ice Age title, distributed via Yggdrasil’s YG Masters programme. The announcement was made on 28 November 2024.

The game retains the frozen tundra setting of the original but introduces a volcanic twist, with lava effects appearing behind and across the reels. Prehistoric creatures return as symbols, including a woolly mammoth, set on a five-reel, 50-line grid that uses a cascading mechanic where winning symbols are removed and replaced.

Mechanics and features

The title incorporates two of Yggdrasil’s Game Engagement Mechanics (GEMs). GigaBlox symbols work alongside the DoubleMax GEM, which doubles the overall multiplier on each win and can trigger a Fireball Wild feature. The mammoth symbol is linked to two further mechanics, Mammoth Explode and Mammoth Shuffle, both designed to extend cascade sequences.

The free spins round carries a win multiplier that persists across spins rather than resetting, intended to sustain cascade activity throughout the bonus feature. A Golden Bet option is also available, doubling the chance of triggering a win. In total, the game includes five in-reel features alongside the GigaBlox mechanic.

10000 BC 2 DoubleMax runs on Yggdrasil’s GATI technology, a standardised, regulation-ready development toolkit used by the company’s partners to build and distribute content.

Zoe Bird, Head of Masters at Yggdrasil, said the sequel combines ice and fire themes and praised 4ThePlayer’s feature design, adding that she expects the title to match the performance of its predecessor.

Henry McLean, co-founder for commercial and marketing at 4ThePlayer, said the game’s mathematics, features and mechanics were built to match the scale of its mammoth theme, describing the release as a significant addition to the series.
