BGaming launches festive twist on Lucky Ducky slot

iGaming content provider BGaming has released Lucky Ducky X-Mas Edition, a Christmas-themed slot built around its MergeUp cluster pays mechanic, which is patent pending. The title launched in Malta on 17th December 2024.

The game features rubber duck symbols across nine progression levels, with combinations of four or more matching ducks merging into higher-level symbols after each payout. Chain reactions can push wins to higher symbol tiers as the game progresses.

Free Spins and bonus features

Scatter symbols, styled as King Duck clusters, can appear once players reach the eighth merging level. Landing four or more Scatters triggers a round of 15, 18 or 20 Free Spins. During this bonus round, winning cells are marked with sticky x2 multipliers that accumulate with each subsequent win in the same cell, with potential values reaching up to x128. Additional Scatters landing during the bonus round can add further spins, with four, five or six Scatters awarding 5, 8 or 10 extra spins respectively.

The game also includes a Buy Bonus option, letting players purchase a Free Spins round at a price tied to their bet size, and a Chance x2 feature that slightly raises the bet in exchange for doubling the odds of triggering the Bonus Game.

Lucky Ducky X-Mas Edition carries a maximum multiplier of x5,000 and a return-to-player rate of 97.25%, and is classified as very high volatility. The Free Spins mode introduces a snowy, festive visual setting with Christmas lighting effects layered over the game’s core summery duck theme.

A non-festive version of the game, using a basic skin, is scheduled for release on 15th January once the holiday period ends, allowing the title to continue in BGaming’s wider portfolio.

Comment

Nikita Zavadsky, Custom Games Product Manager at BGaming, said the release pairs the MergeUp mechanic with a seasonal soundtrack and winter visuals, adding that the studio hoped players would enjoy the lighter, mobile-style theme, and noting that MergeUp has continued to attract players more than a year after its original launch.

BGaming states its portfolio includes more than 150 products distributed across over 1,600 online casinos, and describes itself as the first iGaming supplier to support cryptocurrencies and offer Provably Fair games.
