Games Global has confirmed the launch of Kingfisher Winterborn, a new slot title from exclusive studio Wishbone Games and a sequel to the developer’s earlier Kingfisher series.

The game sets its reels in a snowy setting populated by wildlife symbols such as frogs, dragonflies and ladybirds. Central to the mechanics are five Kingfisher eggs, each carrying a distinct modifier that can be unlocked when a Kingfisher symbol lands and pecks an egg above the reels.

How the modifiers work

Cracking an egg awards 10 free spins along with its associated feature. During these spins, fish symbols carrying cash values appear on the grid, and Kingfisher symbols collect the value of any visible fish.

The egg on reel one applies a multiplier that starts at 1x and rises whenever an ‘X’ symbol lands. The reel two egg builds a cumulative cash value from zero, increasing by 1x the stake with each ‘+’ symbol. The reel four egg upgrades low-value symbols each time an ‘up-arrow’ symbol appears. The reel five egg triggers a respin feature, filling a box with heart symbols until Kingfisher, fish and upgraded symbols become sticky while the rest of the grid respins.

A golden egg on reel three activates all four of these modifiers at once, giving players the chance to win up to 6,000 times their stake.

Comment from the studios

Henna Vilmi, Commercial Director at Wishbone Games, said the winter update builds on the commercial performance of the original Kingfisher series and highlighted the egg features, including the golden ‘super’ egg, as a favourite among players in previous instalments. She added that further titles in the Kingfisher series are planned.

Andy Booth, Chief Product Officer at Games Global, said the title retains familiar elements of the Kingfisher series while introducing new modifiers, describing the studio’s approach as balancing familiarity with fresh mechanics.

Wishbone Games, based in Cardiff, was founded in 2022 and operates as an exclusive content studio within the Games Global network. Games Global’s portfolio spans more than 1,300 games from 40 studios, distributed to around 600 gaming brands worldwide.
