Thunderkick promotes Johanna Backlund to Head of Marketing
Stockholm-based slots studio Thunderkick has appointed Johanna Backlund as its new Head of Marketing, as she nears two years with the company.
Independent casino games developer Thunderkick has promoted Johanna Backlund to Head of Marketing, the company announced from Stockholm.
Backlund, who has more than 20 years of industry experience, joined Thunderkick in January 2023 and has spent the intervening period building and rolling out the studio’s company-wide marketing strategy. In her new role she will be tasked with strengthening brand visibility across Thunderkick’s target markets worldwide.
Focus on growth markets
Thunderkick said the promotion comes as it looks to expand its footprint in Latin America and Canada, alongside efforts to reinforce its standing as a leading supplier in Europe, its home market. Backlund is expected to play a central part in raising brand awareness to support new business development with operators internationally.

Backlund said she was looking forward to starting the new year in the role as she approaches her second anniversary with the business in January 2025, adding that she had enjoyed working with colleagues across the company and was keen to contribute to its continued growth.
