William Hill offers Masters money-back bet should McIlroy land Green Jacket

William Hill has introduced a promotional offer tied to this week’s Masters tournament at Augusta, promising customers Money Back as a Free Bet, up to £50, should Rory McIlroy win and complete his career Grand Slam.

The offer applies to punters’ first bet placed on The Masters and requires opt-in. It went live on Wednesday 9th April and runs until 6pm BST the following Thursday, shortly after the opening round begins.

Odds and market position

McIlroy is priced at 11/2 to win, making him second-favourite behind defending champion Scottie Scheffler at 9/2. Other contenders include Collin Morikawa (12/1), Jon Rahm (14/1) and Bryson DeChambeau (14/1), with the field priced at 16/1.

According to William Hill, McIlroy’s current odds are his shortest heading into the Masters in the last 12 years, and more than a fifth of stakes placed in the tournament winner market have gone on the Northern Irishman, making him the bookmaker’s largest liability for the event.

Company comment

Lee Phelps, spokesperson for William Hill, said the bookmaker was offering the promotion to give customers an engaging betting week around the possibility of McIlroy ending an 11-year wait for a Major title. He noted that while McIlroy currently sits behind Scheffler in the betting, this could change quickly if the golfer performs well over the coming days.
