Yggdrasil releases MexoMax 2 slot sequel with cluster pays and multiplier mechanics
Yggdrasil has launched MexoMax 2, a follow-up to its Aztec-themed slot, adding new cascading multiplier features and a top win of 10,000x.
Yggdrasil has released MexoMax 2, a sequel to one of its established slot titles, on 26 September 2025. The game retains the Aztec setting of its predecessor while introducing additional mechanics and higher multiplier potential.
Players form wins by landing clusters of five or more matching symbols. The title uses Yggdrasil’s MultiMax GEM mechanic, which clears winning symbols after each spin and replaces them with new ones falling from above, adding a wild to one of the vacated positions. Each new wild that appears during this cascade process increases that reel’s multiplier by 1x.
The game also features the WildEnergy GEM, previously used in other Yggdrasil titles, which allows certain wilds to persist on the reels for multiple wins before disappearing, while also boosting multipliers by as much as 50x.
Bonus features and jackpots
During base gameplay, three random features can activate, each guaranteeing a win by forming combinations, completing matching lines or introducing giant symbols.
Landing three or more scatters triggers a free spins round, during which reel multipliers are not reset when wilds appear. The game also includes four jackpot tiers linked to high-paying symbols, offering prizes between 15x and 1000x the stake.
Depending on jurisdiction, players may also have access to two buy bonus options and two Golden Bet features designed to increase the likelihood of special wilds or scatters appearing.
MexoMax 2 joins other sequels in Yggdrasil’s back catalogue, including titles from its Bob Marlin, Vikings and Golden Fish Tank franchises.
Tomasz Kowalik, Head of Games Production at Yggdrasil, said the game builds on the original MexoMax title with expanded multiplier mechanics, a jackpot feature and a maximum win of 10,000x. He added that the company intends to keep developing further instalments within its most successful game franchises.
