Yggdrasil rolls out sci-fi Western slot Neon West

Yggdrasil has released Neon West, a new core slot title that reimagines the classic Western theme through a science-fiction lens, complete with a bespoke Trail Bonus mechanic.

The game runs on a four-reel, 20-payline structure and includes a growing wild that can expand across one to three adjacent symbols on any spin, applying to both base gameplay and free spins.

Bonus choice and Trail feature

A sheriff’s badge symbol serves as the scatter, with three or more triggering a choice of bonus round. Players can pick between free spins featuring sticky wilds, free spins offering random multipliers unlocked through winning combinations, or the new Trail Bonus.

In the Trail Bonus, players move across a large gameboard where each position holds either a cash value or a train icon. Players start with three turns, which can be topped up by landing on a spark symbol or completing a full lap of the board, the latter also boosting all cash values by three.

Landing on a standard train activates one of several modifiers, such as collect icons, cash value boosts, prize multipliers or instant rewards. A golden train instead triggers a persistent version of a modifier, meaning its effect repeats on every subsequent turn, or activates a collect-all feature. In some regulated markets, players can also opt to enter the Trail Bonus directly for a stake multiplier of 30x.

Neon West adds to Yggdrasil’s existing games catalogue, which spans a wide range of themes and mechanics across regulated markets.

Tomasz Kowalik, Head of Games Production at Yggdrasil, said the title puts a new spin on the Western genre, with the Trail Bonus designed to let players amplify their wins with every move. He added that the combination of modifiers and conventional free spin rounds makes Neon West a strong addition to the studio’s slot range.
