Altenar rolls out major software upgrade for betting terminals
Sportsbook provider Altenar has launched an overhauled self-service betting terminal with dual touchscreens, over-the-air updates and expanded customisation options for operators.
Altenar has announced a comprehensive rebuild of its self-service betting terminal software, unveiled on 8th May, aimed at improving operational performance and user experience.
The updated terminal introduces dual touchscreens with bidirectional functionality, QR code payments through a mobile app, integrated vouchers and live streaming, positioning the device as a broader entertainment touchpoint rather than a simple betting kiosk.
Middleware and OTA updates
A new middleware layer gives operators a set of ready-to-use features designed to speed up deployment and simplify updates at terminal level. The addition of over-the-air update capability is intended to allow faster rollouts across different markets while reducing service disruption.
Customisation for operators
Operators can configure user flows, set operating hours and define terminal modes either locally or globally. Promotional content can be tailored by region or campaign via secondary screens, and the terminal natively supports hardware such as printers, bill acceptors and coin handlers.
The upgrade forms part of Altenar’s broader retail strategy, which the company says is focused on an omnichannel approach linking the terminal with its native mobile app and online sportsbook products, allowing players to move between retail and digital channels.
Isidoros Siderakis, Head of Special Projects at Altenar, said the upgrade represented a pivotal step in the company’s retail strategy, combining new technology with customisation options intended to help operators run more efficient and engaging betting environments.
Altenar plans to demonstrate the upgraded terminal at SBC Summit Americas 2025, taking place from 13 to 15 May.
