Hungrybear and Yggdrasil launch Egyptian-themed slot Legacy of Anubis

Game studio Hungrybear has launched Legacy of Anubis, a new online slot released via Yggdrasil’s YGG Masters partnership programme, Yggdrasil announced on 11th December 2024.

The title takes players into a tomb-themed setting with a darker take on the well-worn Egyptian slot genre, built around expanding symbols and scatter mechanics. In the base game, a randomly selected symbol can expand to create additional winning paylines, while book scatter symbols convert into Chosen symbols that also expand when they contribute to a win.

Landing three, four or five scatters triggers a free spins round, which players can also buy outright for 100 times their initial stake. The bonus round starts with ten spins, with a further ten awarded if three more scatters appear during play. Expanding symbols remain active throughout the feature.

Max win and technology

Legacy of Anubis carries a maximum win potential of 5,000x the stake. It follows earlier Hungrybear titles released under the YGG Masters scheme, including Merlin’s Beard, Riches of Olympus and Mystic Magic.

The game runs on Yggdrasil’s GATI technology, a standardised, regulation-ready development toolkit designed to help studio partners build and distribute new titles more quickly.

Comment

Zoe Bird, Head of Masters at Yggdrasil, said the pyramid setting remains a popular choice among players seeking both excitement and wins, describing Legacy of Anubis as delivering a tense recreation of an ancient treasure hunt.

Joe Chamberlain, Product Lead at Hungrybear, said the studio aimed to build atmosphere and suspense into the game alongside the potential for large wins, adding that the combination of expanding symbols and scatters was designed to build anticipation during play.

Hungrybear is a UK and Canada-based studio specialising in casino game design and development for the online gambling sector. Yggdrasil, founded in 2013 and headquartered in Sweden with additional offices in Malta, Poland and Gibraltar, operates as a games publisher supporting studio partners through its YGG Masters programme and proprietary GATI technology.
