Spotlight Sports Group brings Smart View racecards to Ascot
Spotlight Sports Group has partnered with Ascot Racecourse to roll out its Smart View racecard technology across the venue, following a debut at the Howden Christmas Racing Weekend in December.
Spotlight Sports Group (SSG) has announced a partnership with Ascot Racecourse to deploy its Smart View product across the venue, aiming to make horseracing more accessible to a wider range of racegoers.
The technology first appeared at Ascot’s Howden Christmas Racing Weekend in December 2024 and has since been used at further fixtures, where it reportedly received a positive reception from attendees.
Multiple touchpoints
Under the partnership, Smart View will be integrated into Ascot’s printed racecards, in-house self-service betting terminals, the Tipster Board, and the racecourse’s “Bet with Ascot” screens. The aim is to give racegoers several ways to access the tool during race days.
Smart View is designed to simplify traditional racecards by combining data with visual designs influenced by video games such as FIFA and Football Manager, with the intention of making race information easier to digest for both experienced bettors and newcomers to the sport.
Comments from both parties
Tony May, Senior Betting Manager at Ascot Racecourse, said the venue is continually looking for ways to make racing easier to understand for its on-course audience, adding that Smart View offers a modern, engaging way to help racegoers learn more about the sport and potentially become regular followers.
Sam Houlding, Managing Director of B2B at Spotlight Sports Group, described the tie-up as a strong strategic fit, noting that launching Smart View at a venue known for its horseracing pedigree reflects a shared focus on innovation and fan engagement.
Wider rollout
According to SSG, Smart View is already used across digital betting shops via the Racing Post Digital Betting Shop Display edition, on Kindred Group’s digital sportsbook, and was introduced at York Racecourse last year.
Spotlight Sports Group operates several brands including Racing Post, Pickswise, myracing and Free Super Tips, alongside its B2B division which supplies sports betting and fantasy sports content, including the Superfeed in-play product. Ascot Racecourse, founded in 1711, hosts 26 days of racing annually, including the five days of Royal Ascot.
