AvatarUX secures Romanian licence ahead of market debut
Slots studio AvatarUX has been awarded a Class II gaming licence by Romania's National Gaming Office (ONJN), paving the way for its games to launch in the country.
AvatarUX has been granted a Class II gaming licence by Romania’s National Gaming Office (ONJN), allowing the slots studio to offer its portfolio to operators and players in the country for the first time.
The approval, announced on 16 April 2025, is described by the company as a key step in its European expansion plans. AvatarUX said it would introduce its games to the Romanian market gradually, giving local operators and players access to its slot titles over time.
Portfolio and mechanics
The studio’s catalogue includes its PopWins mechanic alongside other proprietary features such as ZapReel, Loaded Reel and Wild Reel, which it positions as core to its gameplay identity. AvatarUX said these mechanics would form the basis of its rollout strategy in Romania.

Lara Falzon, chief executive of AvatarUX, said the Romanian licence represented an important milestone in the company’s growth, noting the studio’s focus on combining engaging gameplay with regulatory compliance and responsible product design. She added that recent additions to the portfolio, alongside the established PopWins range, were intended to differentiate AvatarUX in a competitive market.
AvatarUX Studios develops slot content for iGaming operators, with an emphasis on proprietary mechanics and immersive game design. The Romania licence adds to the studio’s existing regulatory footprint as it continues to pursue expansion across Europe.
