Light & Wonder launches Thundering Box Keno via Lightning Box studio
Light & Wonder has released Thundering Box Keno, a hybrid title combining Keno with linked progressive jackpots and dual-screen respins, exclusively for DraftKings players in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ontario.
Light & Wonder, Inc. (NASDAQ: LNW) has launched Thundering Box Keno, a new title from its in-house studio Lightning Box that merges traditional Keno gameplay with mechanics from the company’s Thundering slot series.
The game is built around an 80-number Keno grid, with players selecting between three and ten numbers to match against a draw. Wins are determined by the number of matches achieved relative to the player’s chosen numbers.
Bonus mechanics
The title incorporates Lightning Bolt symbols, which trigger a Respin bonus feature when six or more land. During this feature, scattered bolts carrying prizes can appear across five reels, with each new bolt landing in the active area resetting the spin count to three. Colossal Bolts can also appear and break into smaller bolts, creating further win opportunities.
Lightning Bolts additionally build up a Thunder Cloud meter. Once full, this activates an Upgraded Respin feature that adds a second reel screen, increasing the potential for further bolts and jackpot wins.
Progressive jackpots
Both bonus features give players access to Linked Progressive Jackpots, which share a prize pool with Light & Wonder’s Thundering slot games. The Major Jackpot starts at $1,000 and the Grand Jackpot starts at $8,000, with both increasing with every spin regardless of stake.
Thundering Box Keno is currently available exclusively through DraftKings in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ontario.
Michael Maokhamphiou, Studio Director at Lightning Box, said the title combines the familiarity of Keno with the energy of the Thundering series, describing the addition of linked progressive jackpots and dual-screen respins as making it one of the studio’s most ambitious releases to date.
