Light & Wonder launches Thundering Eclipse slot via Lightning Box studio
Light & Wonder has released Thundering Eclipse, a new progressive jackpot slot from its Lightning Box studio, exclusively for FanDuel customers in select US states and Ontario.
Light & Wonder, Inc. (NASDAQ: LNW) has launched Thundering Eclipse, the newest title in its Lightning Box studio’s slot series, available exclusively to FanDuel customers in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ontario.
The game is a follow-up to the studio’s earlier Lightning Eclipse title and is set on a tropical island theme. It runs on a 3x5 reel layout with 243 ways to win, combining Respins, Free Games and Progressive Jackpots.
Thunder Cloud mechanic drives bonus features
Central to the game is the Thunder Cloud feature, described as a persistence meter that fills as players spin. Once full, it triggers an Upgraded Respin, which adds an extra reel set to the screen, giving players increased chances to land wins and jackpots.
A separate Lightning Respin feature is activated when six or more Lightning Bolt symbols appear. These break into smaller bolts, and each new bolt landing resets the number of available respins to three.
Both the Lightning and Upgraded Respin features can lead to Progressive Grand and Major Jackpots, which are claimable at any bet level. According to Light & Wonder, the Grand Jackpot starts at $8,000 and the Major at $1,000, with both increasing with each spin.
The game’s Free Games round is triggered by landing three, four or five Scatter Moon symbols, awarding 8, 15 or 30 free spins respectively. Within this mode, players can also unlock Wild Upgrade Respins and trigger further Lightning Respins.

Michael Maokhamphiou, Studio Director at Lightning Box, said the title was designed to keep players engaged through its jackpot mechanics, adding that the Upgraded Respins feature represents one of the studio’s most significant new mechanics to date.
