Lightning Box launches Ithaca's Gold slot with new respin mechanic
Light & Wonder's in-house studio Lightning Box has released Ithaca's Gold, a Greek mythology-themed slot featuring a picking-based free games round and a reworked respin feature with progressive jackpots.
Light & Wonder has gone live with Ithaca’s Gold, a new online slot developed by Lightning Box, one of the group’s in-house game studios. The title launched on 20 November and is currently available exclusively to online players at Caesars in New Jersey, Michigan and Ontario.
The 3x5 slot is themed around the legendary shores of Odysseus, with base game wins paid left to right and multiplied by a bet multiplier.
Picking feature and free games
Landing three or more scatter symbols triggers a Free Games round with an accompanying picking mechanic. Players choose from five islands on a treasure map, each concealing a modifier such as a game multiplier, symbol removal or additional free spins. Picks continue until a Free Games Start option is revealed, at which point the round begins with all collected modifiers applied.
Respin mechanic and jackpots
A separate respin feature is triggered when two or more scatter coins appear alongside a scatter collect symbol, adding an extra horizontal reel to the game. Landing a scatter coin together with a scatter respins collect symbol resets the spin count to three; if this does not happen within the first three respins, players receive a Second Chance Respin.
During respins, players can collect Mini, Minor, Major and Grand jackpot prizes, with values increasing according to the bet multiplier, allowing for repeated jackpot wins within a single sequence.
A Bonus Buy option is also available in select jurisdictions, letting players pay a fixed price to access the free games round, including the picking feature, without needing to trigger it through gameplay.
