BandBet Taps OpenBet for Brazilian Sports Betting and iGaming Launch

OpenBet, the betting technology and services provider, has been selected by Bell Ventures Digital Ltd to supply the platform behind BandBet, a newly launched sports betting and iGaming brand in Brazil. The deal, announced on 9 October 2024 in São Paulo, marks OpenBet’s first brand launch in the country.

BandBet uses a brand licensed from Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação (Band), the long-established Brazilian media group with television, radio and digital operations spanning more than 87 years. Bell Ventures has also agreed to acquire media space from Band as part of the wider arrangement. Financial advice on the agreement was provided by the investment banking team at BTG Pactual.

BandBet is currently operating during a soft launch phase at www.bandbet.com, with Bell Ventures named among the entities authorised by Brazil’s Ministry of Finance to operate in the transition period under ordinance 1475/24. The company applied for a federal operating licence in August, with a decision expected by 31 December 2024.

Platform and compliance features

Under the agreement, OpenBet will provide an end-to-end sports betting and iGaming ecosystem, including player account management, its BetBuilder product, and a casino offering built with content from multiple gaming studios alongside a unified promotions system across both verticals.

Responsible gambling and anti-money laundering functions will be powered by Neccton, while geolocation compliance will be handled through OpenBet Locator, a solution built on Amazon Web Services infrastructure designed to meet Brazil’s regulatory requirements.

Executive comment

Band chief executive Claudio Giordani said the group had long been linked with sports coverage in Brazil and welcomed Bell Ventures’ decision to enter the market using a Band-licensed brand.

Ricardo Bianco Rosada, board member at Bell Ventures, described the choice of OpenBet as natural, citing the supplier’s experience and the flexibility of its integrated sports and iGaming system.

OpenBet chief executive Jordan Levin said the partnership would help BandBet deliver a strong player experience as Brazil’s regulated betting market develops.

OpenBet, part of Endeavor, has more than 25 years of experience in the sector and states it serves over 75 clients globally, alongside recent industry award wins including honours at the EGR North America Awards, EGR B2B Awards and SBC North America Awards.
