OpenBet has agreed a long-term partnership to launch and power the sports betting and gaming platform for Todos Querem Jogar (TQJ), a new venture from Grupo Silvio Santos (GSS), announced on Monday 23 September 2024.

GSS is one of Brazil’s largest conglomerates, with interests spanning media through broadcaster SBT, retail via Jequiti, tourism, real estate and redeemable bonds. The group’s media output, including long-running game shows and products such as Baú da Felicidade and Tele Sena, reaches more than 113 million Brazilians monthly across over 100 broadcasters, according to the company.

Full betting ecosystem

Under the agreement, OpenBet will supply TQJ with an end-to-end betting platform designed for Brazil’s regulated market. This includes the supplier’s sportsbook engine, intended to handle high traffic volumes during major sporting events, alongside a player account management system covering both sports betting and casino products.

The sportsbook will feature OpenBet’s BetBuilder tool, allowing customers to build personalised bets, and will be backed by the company’s Managed Trading Services for round-the-clock risk management.

Compliance and player protection

Responsible gambling and anti-money laundering technology from Neccton will underpin the offering, alongside OpenBet Locator, a geolocation tool built on Amazon Web Services infrastructure, which is designed to help TQJ meet Brazil’s regulatory requirements.

Leonardo Sampaio, chief information officer at GSS, said the partnership was intended to ensure the operator’s betting experience was supported by strong compliance procedures as it enters the regulated market. GSS chief executive José Roberto Maciel said the company aimed to lead on responsible gambling standards in Brazil, going beyond legal requirements.

OpenBet chief executive Jordan Levin said the deal reflected growing interest from major Brazilian entertainment groups in the supplier’s compliance-focused approach to betting operations.

OpenBet, part of Endeavor, describes itself as a global sports betting technology provider with more than 25 years of experience and over 75 customers worldwide, including operators in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. TQJ is described as a company focused on Brazil’s regulated sports betting market, backed by GSS’s decades of experience in media, retail and consumer prize sweepstakes.
