Xpoint named geolocation partner for UAE Lottery

Xpoint, a provider of geolocation and compliance technology, has agreed a partnership with The Game LLC to act as geolocation vendor for The UAE Lottery. The deal was announced on 7 April 2025.

Xpoint is licensed by the UAE’s gaming regulator, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), which has set geolocation requirements for the lottery comparable to those used in the United States.

Compliance and technology

Under the arrangement, Xpoint’s system is intended to support high player volumes across the lottery’s nationwide operations while maintaining reliability. The technology will also be used to manage exclusion zones mandated by the regulator, preventing participation from within designated locations.

According to The Game LLC, use of a private cloud means player data will be kept within the UAE, in line with local data requirements.

Executive comment

Manu Gambhir, chief executive of Xpoint, said the partnership reflected the company’s aim of providing accurate and reliable geolocation services in line with the UAE’s regulatory framework.

Ed Bedrosian, Xpoint’s chief compliance and regulatory officer, said the choice by The Game LLC to adopt the technology reflected confidence in its platform, and that Xpoint would continue supporting a secure and compliant lottery service.

Bishop Woosley, director of lottery operations at The Game LLC, said working with Xpoint would help The UAE Lottery meet the country’s data requirements, with all data hosted on UAE soil via a private cloud to ensure security and regulatory alignment.

Background

The UAE Lottery is described as the UAE’s first federally licensed lottery and the first of its kind in the Gulf region. It is regulated by the GCGRA and operated by The Game LLC, part of the Momentum Group in Abu Dhabi, which was appointed as official operator of the lottery in July 2024. Participation is restricted to UAE residents aged 18 and over.
