Jebel Ali Racecourse signs up for Total Performance Data horse tracking
Total Performance Data has agreed a multi-year deal to supply its live tracking and timing technology to Jebel Ali Racecourse in Dubai, extending its presence to six tracks across the Middle East.
Jebel Ali Racecourse (JARC) has signed a multi-year agreement with Total Performance Data (TPD) to deploy the firm’s horse tracking system at its Dubai venue, Total Performance Data announced on Friday 6 December 2024.
The deal takes TPD’s presence in the UAE to three racecourses and extends its regional footprint to six tracks across the wider Middle East as part of its continued expansion in the area.
Live data and race graphics
Under the agreement, TPD will provide live and post-race timing and performance statistics for every horse competing at Jebel Ali, with running order graphics displayed on racetrack screens for spectators. The rollout began this month, coinciding with the current JARC season, which includes feature races such as the Jebel Ali Mile, Jebel Ali Sprint, Jebel Ali Stakes and Jebel Ali Distaff. The Distaff and Stakes races form part of the Emirates Sprint Series and are due to feature on the track’s Ramadan Feast raceday in March.
Comment from both parties
Will Duff Gordon, chief executive of TPD, said the agreement marked a significant step in the company’s Middle East growth, describing Jebel Ali as an ambitious addition to its international client base.
Mohamed Ahmed, general manager of JARC, said the introduction of the tracking system formed part of the racecourse’s digital transformation. He noted that he had first seen the technology in use at a UK racecourse in 2018 and had anticipated its wider adoption across the sport, calling its implementation at Jebel Ali a source of pride for the venue.
About the companies
JARC is known for its informal atmosphere and hosts Thoroughbred and Purebred Arabian racing throughout the UAE season, featuring a grandstand, Horsemen Garden and family-oriented public areas.
TPD provides GPS-based tracking data from 160 racetracks across 12 countries, covering live speed, position and stride data, and supports betting products and fan engagement tools built on that data.
